We’re excited to welcome Tim O’Neil to Newforma as our new Chief Financial Officer. Tim brings deep experience across finance, SaaS, and private equity-backed companies, along with a practical, growth-minded approach to helping businesses scale.
As Tim joins the team, we sat down with him to learn more about his background, what drew him to Newforma, and life outside of work.
Tell us a little about yourself.
“I’m from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and I’ve lived in the area my whole life. My wife, Christina, and I live about 25 to 30 minutes outside the city with our two daughters, Vada and Kinley. A lot of our time outside of work is spent with family and travel sports. I always joke that I do not have many hobbies because of that, but we love being outside whenever we can.”
What has your career looked like so far?
“I spent much of my earlier career in FP&A organizations focusing on M&A and Strategic Growth, particularly in large financial institutions, along with time in mortgage servicing. Over the last several years, I’ve moved into private equity-backed SaaS companies, where I’ve focused on helping businesses grow & scale, improve financial visibility, and build stronger operating rhythms. Before joining Newforma, I was at ExtraHop, a Seattle-based cybersecurity company, where I worked closely with the leadership team, private equity sponsors/investors, and lenders during a period of significant growth. Prior to that, I was at LoanLogics, another high-growth company where I helped support the business as it scaled, organically and through sizable acquisition.”
What drew you to Newforma?
“The opportunity ahead really stood out to me. Newforma has a strong platform, a clear role to play in the AECO market, and a real opportunity to make customers’ work more seamless and easier to track. I was also excited by the momentum around the company and the team environment. The growth since Pete joined as CEO, the rebrand, and the partnerships in motion all made Newforma feel like a business with a lot of energy and potential. Just as important, Pete’s enthusiasm and leadership style resonated with me. It was clear that there is a strong vision for where Newforma can go, and I’m excited to be part of that.”
What excites you most about the AECO market?
“It is a complex market with a lot of moving pieces, and that creates a real opportunity for Newforma. Project teams are managing huge amounts of information, communication, and documentation every day. The ability to make that easier, more connected, and more visible is incredibly valuable. That kind of customer impact is exciting to be part of.”
How do you think Finance can help support Newforma’s next phase of growth?
“Finance should be a strong partner to the business. As Newforma continues to grow, it is important that we have clear visibility into performance, understand where we are investing, and make decisions with the right data behind them. My focus will be on partnering with the leadership team to support smart growth, strengthen reporting, and help the organization continue to scale through profitable, calculated investments.”
What should people know about you outside of work?
“Family is a big part of my life. With two daughters involved in sports, a lot of our schedule revolves around practices, games, and travel. I’m also a big sports fan. I played college football at Waynesburg University and have always loved the game. Growing up in Pittsburgh, I’m a lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan. My wife and I also enjoy biking, hiking, and being outdoors when we can.”
Do you have a favorite travel memory?
“One that really stands out is a family trip to Colorado. We visited Rocky Mountain National Park, Denver, and Aspen, and drove Trail Ridge Road. The views were incredible. It is one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen. We also enjoy beach destinations and the Caribbean, and we’ve done some fun family road trips over the years, including one through Texas where we visited several different towns.”
What are you most looking forward to at Newforma?
“I’m looking forward to getting to know the team, learning the business more deeply, and helping Newforma continue to grow. There is a lot of momentum here, and I’m excited to partner across the organization as we build on that foundation and move into the company’s next phase.”
