Newforma software and servers

Newforma Project Center

CPU: Intel Pentium P4 or later processor
RAM: 1GB (minimum) - 2GB (recommended)
Hard Disk: 40 GB recommended (with 135 MB available for the install)
OS: Windows XP Professional SP2 (32-bit OS and 64-bit OS versions supported; 64-bit OS support only available in Fourth Edition software update), or Windows Vista (32-bit OS versions required; 64-bit OS versions not yet supported.)
Note: Support for Windows Vista 64-bit OS version is available on a provisional basis; contact Newforma Account Management for more information.

Computers running the Newforma Project Center desktop application also require:

• Outlook 2003 SP2, or Outlook 2007 (to make full use of Newforma Issue Manager (a.k.a. Action Items in Fifth Edition) and Project Email functions)
• Excel 2003 or Excel 2007 (to make use of reporting and project template functions, as well as Newforma Space Layout and Takeoff)

Newforma Project Center server

CPU: Single quad core Xeon processor or equivalent. The addition of a second quad core processor will allow substantially improved indexing performance.*
RAM: 2 GB (minimum), 4 GB (recommended)
Hard Disk: 10,000 RPM drives in a fault-tolerant RAID configuration, with a working capacity of 50 GB (minimum), 150 GB (recommended)

OS: Windows 2003 Server Edition SP2 (32-bit OS versions required; 64-bit OS versions not supported)

The Newforma Project Center server also requires:

• The hardware running Newforma Project Center Server must be a dedicated server with no other applications, databases, file shares, etc. running in parallel.
• High through-put connectivity (Gigabit or equal, recommended) between Newforma Project Center server and the file server containing primary sources of project information; these servers should be collocated.
• UPS protection sufficient to provide for safe shutdown of the server in the event of power failure.
• Licensed copy of Microsoft Windows Outlook® 2003 SP2 installed and an email account configured to support indexing of .MSG files.
• Licensed copy of Microsoft Office 2007 installed to support indexing of Microsoft Office 2007 file formats (.DOCX, .PPTX, .XLSX, etc.) if Office 2007 files exist within any of the projects to be implemented in Newforma Project Center.
• SMTP installed/configured to allow email relay to Microsoft Exchange sServer or comparable email server.
• The NETBIOS (computer) name for the Newforma Project Center server must be 15 characters or less in length.

Newforma Info Exchange server

CPU: Intel Pentium P4 or later processor
RAM: 1 GB
Hard Disk: 80 GB (minimum, actual size requirement will be driven by the amount of customer data shared with external project team)

OS: Windows 2003 Server Edition SP2 (including IIS service), or Windows 2003 Web Edition (32-bit OS versions required; 64-bit OS versions not supported)

The Newforma Info Exchange server also requires:

• UPS protection sufficient to provide for safe shutdown of the server in the event of power failure
• A static IP address accessible by external users
• An SSL certificate secured from Verisign, GoDaddy.com, or other trusted certification authority

* Newforma recommends a PassMark Software CPU rating of at least 2,000.
