What is project information management (PIM) software?

PIM addresses the basic needs of organizing, finding, tracking, sharing, monitoring and reusing technical project information and communications in a way that is completely aligned with the people and processes that depend on that information.

Project information management supports the project execution process, the “third leg of the stool” for architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) firms:PIM_project_information_management_software_in_AEC_diagram.jpg

“HOK manages three classes of information with three core applications which, like the legs of a stool, provide a framework for capturing the knowledge we need to drive continuous innovation and superior project delivery. We use Deltek Vision to manage the data related to the business of architecture, and we use Autodesk Revit to author the deliverables we provide to our clients and contractors. The third leg of the stool, and the most challenging to date, is enabling the processes of architecture, for which we have selected Newforma Project Center as our enterprise tool.”
