Newforma Announces Upcoming Release of Newforma Project Center Fourth Edition

Solution transforms AEC project information management from easier to smarter

Manchester, N.H.—July 17, 2007—Newforma, a software company addressing the project information management needs of the design and building industry, announced today the upcoming release of Newforma Project Center Fourth Edition. Currently in limited release at selected customer sites, Fourth Edition will be commercially available in early August. While previous versions of Newforma Project Center have made project information management easier and more effective for architects, engineers and constructors, Fourth Edition offers new, ground-breaking functionality that transforms project information management from easier to smarter.

More than 50 architectural and engineering firms, who are currently managing over 6,000 projects in Newforma Project Center, have provided guidance to Fourth Edition enhancements in the areas of project email management, search, and sharing project information via Newforma Info Exchange. In addition, Fourth Edition also offers new functionality to make project information management more intelligent. Examples include:

  • Capturing the decision process around design review with the ability to create and record markup sessions, and the ability to link those sessions to the locations in the CAD drawing or BIM model under review
  • Associating information streams together, such as an issue email trail with a markup session, for a fuller, linked view of the activities, discussions, and related information going on around a design
  • Expanding Search to identify BIM building objects by their property descriptions in DWF, DWG and IFC files, which, added to the ability to find any search term inside emails, documents, drawings, external references and attachments, makes the need to tag files with metadata increasingly obsolete
  • Offering complete out-of-office support for managing project email – via PDA, Outlook Web Access or offline laptop. The ability to file project email from anywhere consolidates the actions of responding to AND organizing email into one step.
