Newforma Hosts 2nd Annual Newforma Executive Forum
Senior AEC Executives Gather to Share Project Process Experience
Manchester, N.H.-March 22, 2007- Newforma, Inc., a software company addressing the project process needs of the design and building industry, concluded a successful two-day forum for senior business and information technology executives on March 13th and 14th. Over 30 executives from 21 leading AEC firms, all of whom share a common interest in shaping and improving project process in their firms, came together in Chicago to participate in the customer forum hosted by Newforma.
"The Newforma Executive Forum was an informative time on a number of levels," said Tim Rice, principal and director of information technology at LMN Architects in Seattle, Washington. "It was great to meet new folks and reconnect with some old acquaintances - all united by their use of Newforma. It was informative to hear from Deltek both formally and informally of their upcoming plans. And of course it was great to hear from Newforma on the directions they are considering. I'm impressed by the fact that they are not shying away from some very complex challenges."
Leading off the program, Bruce Jenkins, senior analyst and managing partner, Spar Point Research, facilitated a discussion around the findings of his recently published white paper, "Improving AEC Project Execution: Lessons from 11 Industry Leaders" (www.newforma.com/NewsResources/papers.htm). This session was followed by a panel presentation and discussion on building information modeling (BIM)-related process challenges, led by Mark Andersen, vice president of information technology at Environmental Systems Design; Richard Nitzsche, chief information officer and principal of Perkins+Will; and Joseph Burns, managing principal of Thornton Tomasetti. Panel members presented their different perspectives on the new process challenges they have encountered while working together on a shared university hospital project involving BIM.
Deltek Executive Vice President Eric Brehm shared his thoughts on the importance of process in project-based businesses and the benefits of integrating project and business processes. To conclude the program, Ian Howell, chief executive officer of Newforma, and Bob Batcheler, vice president of product management and industry marketing, led a discussion that pulled together the ideas and issues generated during the course of the meeting into thoughts and direction for the Newforma solution, Newforma Project Center™, going forward.
"I very much enjoyed the session and the opportunity to share experiences and thoughts with peers and leaders in other firms," said Ed Goytia, director of practice operations at Mancini Duffy in New York. "It was valuable to discuss the various business and practice process issues that affect architecture and engineering firms throughout the country regardless of size and concentration, and to share ideas on how each of us is leveraging products like Newforma, Deltek and others in the pursuit of solutions to those concerns."
Newforma CEO Ian Howell expressed deep appreciation for the involvement and contributions of Newforma customers at the Executive Forum. "Newforma's success to date is directly related to the degree of guidance and support we've received from our customers," said Howell. "It was exciting to see our customers sharing what they've learned with each other for the advancement of the industry as a whole."
