Working, networking and The Works for breakfast
Dear customers, partners and friends of Newforma:
Despite slowdowns in the AEC sector – or perhaps because of slowdowns – Newforma has been busy fielding requests for information about project information management (PIM) software, integrated project delivery and more. If you did not talk to Newforma people at the recent AEC IT Leaders Roundtable in New York, the AIA 2009 National Convention and Design Exposition in San Francisco or the 2009 Civil Engineers' Summit & Expo in Los Angeles, you’ll have opportunities at the events below. Better yet, see if you can join us the next time we serve breakfast. We'll see to it that you get some real food for thought!

Architects and engineers counter economic pressures
In the first quarter of 2009, leading architecture and engineering firms have made strategic investments in Newforma® Project Center software to raise responsiveness to clients and project team members, improve the efficiency of project execution, and mitigate risks that would otherwise be caused by missing or incomplete project information. New customers include GGLO, BergerABAM, Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects, PCS Structural Solutions, LPA and Lumos & Associates. For quotes from architects who’ve adopted Newforma software, click here; for comments by engineers, click here.
Cadalyst reviews Newforma Project Center Sixth Edition
CAD consultant Robert Green writes, “With the BIM markup management and LEED administration features, Sixth Edition has stepped up to provide a credible solution for managing the latest challenges within AEC workflows.” Click here to read the full “First Look” review, “Project information management software for AEC teams embraces more file types and integrates markups in a simple, e-mail-like interface.”
New webinar demonstrates image management
New product integration with Axomic OpenAsset digital image management software enables architects, engineers and contractors to manage digital image libraries within a project context. For example, AEC firms have told us they need to segregate images used in the course of executing projects from images used to market the firm. You’re invited to explore these topics further at a free webinar, “Every picture tells a story: managing digital images,” from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Eastern time, Friday, May 22nd. Click here to register for the webinar.
Deltek Insight 2009 features two Newforma presentations
If you’re going to Orlando for Deltek Insight from May 12th to the 15th, Newforma is presenting two informative sessions that show how to gain greater value from your Deltek® Vision® and Newforma® Project Center investments. “Deltek Vision and Newforma Project Center: Finding the Synergy” is a town hall meeting with Newforma’s Bob Batcheler, Deltek’s Jeff Eckerle and Central Consulting Group’s Steve Stolz. In “Driving Project Data Re-Use: Three Industry Experiences,” Bob Batcheler moderates a panel discussion with Bret Tushaus of Eppstein Uhen Architects, Matt Tosto of Affiliated Engineers, and Aaron Kivett of Verge Associates. For details, consult the Insight 2009 Session Catalog.
AEC Tech Strategies Conference presents timely topics
This year’s AEC Technology Strategies Conference offers a number of sessions on adopting information technology to cope and thrive in the current economic climate. For example, Michael Tardif, Assoc. AIA, CSI, Hon. SDA, director of integrated project delivery systems at Grunley Construction Company (a Newforma customer), will present “Aligning Technology with Core Business Strategy.” The AEC Technology Strategies 2009 Conference, which is sponsored by Stagnito Media following Zweig White’s sale of media assets to Stagnito earlier this year, runs June 11 and 12 at the Green Valley Ranch Resort & Spa, Las Vegas. Newforma cooks up a 5th anniversary breakfast
As is the company tradition several times a year, Newforma executives recently donned aprons and wielded spatulas in service to hungry Newformants. The occasion this time was Newforma’s 5th birthday, which happens to coincide with Cinco de Mayo. Naturally under these conditions, eggs with The Works includes plenty of salsa; see the proof here. (Thanks to Bob Batcheler for capturing these images!)
