Why project information management (PIM) software?

Dear customers, partners and friends of Newforma:

Architecture, engineering and construction companies have tried many ways to address the challenge of managing project information. It’s a tough job. Documents are constantly changing and work processes are highly iterative. Project extranets, document management software and SharePoint customization, among other solutions, have not been completely up to the task. That’s why Newforma approaches the problem differently. To read how customers evaluate that difference, and to discover resources to be more productive using Newforma software, read the articles below.

Structure Magazine publishes ”Controlling Documents with PIM Software”

Project information management (PIM) software is a new category of technology designed to tackle the growing challenge of managing electronic documents and digital workflow by architects, engineers and construction firms. In this "Insights" column in Structure magazine, a publication of the National Council of Engineers Associations (NCSEA), Newforma Vice President Bob Batcheler describes how PIM software offers much more than simple efficiency in day-to-day operations. It also mitigates risks.

AEC firms abandon document management software for Newforma PIM solution

When we asked new customers why they chose Newforma Project Center, we found a pattern: Many told us they had either used or considered using document management software, but selected the Newforma project information management solution instead because it fits better with architecture, engineering and construction workflows. Follow this link to read remarks from WHR Architects’ Jorge Aguirre, NAC Architecture’s Trish Buzan and Harris Consulting Engineers’ Tom Harris.

Construction firms adopt Newforma's PIM solution to improve client service and mitigate risk

Newforma customers managing construction companies say they’ve adopted Newforma Project Center to streamline project workflows and improve client service. They say having a better handle on email and action items will not only improve project execution, but will provide a record to hand over to the owner at the end of the project. Foushee and Associates’ Eric Jones and Juneau Construction’s Eric Kerley describe their decisions in their own words here.

Engineers select Newforma’s PIM solution for its AEC industry specialization

Engineering firms that have recently chosen Newforma’s project information management solution gave reasons similar to those we’ve heard from architectural and construction customers: Newforma Project Center, being ready-made for the AEC industry, fits their existing workflows, and hence requires no customization or lag time before it earns a return. Architects adopt Newforma Project Center to achieve strategic goals

As their reason for choosing Newforma’s solution, architectural customers cited compelling software functionality that it will contribute directly to their firms’ strategic goals of improving client service, raising productivity, practicing sustainable design and more. Flood season raises empathy and brings back memories

The threat of flooding in various parts of the United States raises our concern for people who may be affected by rising waters. It reminds us of our very own flood disaster in May of 2006, when our basement offices in the century-old Jefferson Mill building were inundated by the rising Merrimack River. You can see a few of the pictures here.
