Speak up and be heard!

Dear customers, partners and friends of Newforma:

Good things can happen when you speak your mind. For example, Newforma software for project information management got its start when architects, engineers and construction professionals told us the points of pain they were suffering in running their businesses. Newforma continues its practice of promoting conversations among AEC professionals through the many forums and media below. We hope you’ll take part in one or all of them. Who knows what good things will come as a result?

– Patrick Gillam, editor

Headlines

Tell us your story

At a new section of our user community website, Newforma Stories, we’re posting short anecdotes of ways Newforma customers are triumphing in everyday work processes. Read recent posts to see how one customer resolved a dispute over supposedly not-sent drawings, and how another used Newforma Project Center to prevent a three-fold price hike in coliseum seating. If you have a story you’d like to contribute, send it to Director of Customer Satisfaction Dan Conery.

Get published

If you have something to say to the industry about project information management, Newforma may be able to work behind the scenes on your behalf. An example would be Skidmore, Owings and Merrill Associate Doris Pulsifer’s AIA KnowledgeNet newsletter article, Watch Your Language: Five Information Management Terms I’d Like to Replace. Another is an article in Construction Specifier magazine, in which Brett Wilbur, CSI, CCS, AIA, of Page Southerland Page LLP in Houston, compares Newforma Project Center’s PIM capabilities to Attolist, Submittal Exchange, Buzzsaw, FTP sites and email. (Go to page 54 to find Brett's article.)

Talk to the press

Newforma customers often tell us our software gives them a strategic advantage in winning and pleasing clients. For example, Manning Architects in Louisiana, Kohn Architects in Ontario and Haskell in Florida have all spoken out recently to say why project information management software gives them a competitive edge.

Be a presenter

Newforma is once again sponsoring the AEC Technology Strategies Conference, to be held May 20-21, 2010, at the Green Valley Ranch, Las Vegas. You’re invited to submit a speaker proposal outlining your experience and case studies. Simply send a one-page proposal with a session title and brief description by December 15, 2009, to Amy Walsh at Stagnito Media. Also, Newforma partner Deltek has issued a call for topics for Deltek Insight 2010, to be held May 17-20 at the Gaylord National, Washington, D.C. Topics must be submitted online before the deadline of November 25, 2009.

Read Vico partnership news

Vico Software and Newforma have entered into a partnership to use the Associated General Contractors’ agcXML specification for open data exchange between Vico OfficeTM and Newforma® Project Center. The integration will help users execute requests for information (RFIs) and to coordinate the change management process. Read the details in this news release.

Keep up with U.K. news

In the United Kingdom, Terry Nichols, director of emerging technologies at HOK‘s London office and chairman of the Newforma UK User Community, talked about his office’s experiences with Newforma Project Center in this Campbell-Lange Workshop video. (Scroll down to “Terry Nichols of HOK talks about Newforma.”) Newforma Director of EMEA Operations Tim Bates tells how the video came to be in his recent blog post.
