Good neighbors
Dear customers, partners and friends of Newforma:
“Working together” is a theme of this issue of the Newforma Newsletter. It offers stories of people collaborating, whether separated by 15 time zones or one stone wall. You’ll read how architects, engineers and builders can work together in integrated project delivery. And we don’t just talk about people working together. See how Microsoft SharePoint and Newforma Project Center can team up to make your firm more efficient and effective, too.

PIM puts international project on firm footing
In this CE News case study, Chris Cornell, P.E., S.E., M.ASCE, tells how his team uses Newforma Project Center to promote efficiency, mitigate risk and drive accountability on a complex project spanning multiple time zones. Chris is a senior project manager with BergerABAM, which uses Newforma software to manage e-mails, submittals, transmittals, RFIs, markups and other types of project information on its SP-SSA International Terminal project in Vietnam. Read Chris’s article here.
Newforma Project Center as a process and information model tool
In an AECbytes Viewpoint essay, Terry Nichols describes the value of organizing design development so that information and processes can be checked for completeness and compliance with policies, procedures and building codes, and distilled for reuse in future projects. Terry also stars in an article in Britain’s CAD User magazine, “PIM’s No.1!,” on the use of Newforma project information management software in HOK’s London office. Terry is the former director of emerging technologies for HOK, and is now an independent consultant.
Don’t give up on IPD: PIM makes it possible
A recent ZweigWhite survey finds that many architecture and engineering leaders consider integrated project delivery riddled with too many unknowns to even consider, partly due to the difficulty of assembling a group of people with a common goal. In this Metal Architecture magazine article, Stefan Schumacher shows how project information management (PIM) software meets the emerging needs of integrated project delivery teams.
Customers validate deployment on virtual servers
If you've wondered whether to implement Newforma Project Center on physical or virtual servers, the answer is in: You can do either. Corgan Associates and SHW Group have fully implemented Newforma Project Center on virtualized servers, demonstrating the PIM solution’s viability in such environments. Good neighbors make good fences
In his poem “Mending Wall,” Robert Frost quotes a neighbor as saying, “Good fences make good neighbors.” But for Newforma Software Engineer Chad Ames, the reverse is true, as well. In this pictorial essay, Chad tells how teaming up with a neighbor led to a more attractive landscape, a better leisure area for the families and a closer friendship between them.
