Company History
Newforma was founded in November 2003 by seven industry professionals who, as a team, have accumulated decades of software and AECO industry experience. Jesse Devitte of Borealis Ventures is Newforma’s seed investor. Bob Batcheler, Jim Forester, Todd Kozikowski, Larry Nuttall, Dave Plunkett and Allen Preger have, at various points in their careers, worked together to define, develop and market popular technical software applications, many of which are still used today by leading architecture and engineering companies.
Team members re-united at Newforma to fill the need for technology that would help architects and engineers drive their processes. The team invested many months capturing customer requirements, validating a product strategy and preparing the business plan that culminated in Series A funding in May 2004.
With Series A funding, Chief Executive Officer Ian Howell has recruited a high-performing development team and continued to work with leading firms in the industry to further define and validate detailed product specifications, resulting in the release of Newforma Project Center, First Edition, in May 2005.
Over the remainder of 2005, Newforma successfully completed a Series B round and captured feedback from early customers using Newforma Project Center on live building and infrastructure projects.
Newforma Project Center had its commercial debut in June, 2006. Newforma completed a successful Series C round in March of 2007 in order to accelerate revenue growth with additional sales resources. As of January 2009, more than 28,000 users are managing over 120,000 projects in Newforma Project Center. Customers include forward-thinking firms of all sizes, from Perkins+Will and HOK to Jordan,Jones & Goulding and Grunley Construction Company to Mackey Mitchell Architects and Array Healthcare Facilities Solutions.
